Prism Solar Technologies is a privately held corporation headquartered in Highland, New York, with R&D and production facilities in New York and Arizona.

Prism History

Prism's Holographic Planar Concentrator (HPC) technology was originally developed in 1995 by Glenn Rosenberg, now Prism Solar’s Chief Technology Officer.  Prism Solar Technologies Inc. was founded in 2005 to bring that technology to market.

Prism Solar is guided by management with a successful history of starting and operating PV businesses. We have assembled a highly motivated team of over 40 employees, 9 of whom are optical scientists or optical engineers, including the key scientists who developed HPC technology. Prism’s Board of Directors also includes some of the most prominent names in the solar industry today.

The Highland facility will ultimately produce 60 megawatts of solar modules for domestic markets and 1000 megawatts of HPC film for sale to other solar module manufacturers. It's the first time an optics technology that substantially increases power output will be used to leverage the capacity of the entire solar industry. 

        Prism Solar Technologies, Inc. was voted "Most Promising
        Technology"  by over 600 investors at the Cleantech XIV
                        held in 2007 in Toronto, Canada.

Prism’s Competitive Advantage

Prism’s streamlined manufacturing process, combined with the low material costs and unique performance features of HPC technology, will allow us to dramatically reduce solar module costs and increase module output to degrees never achieved before in the PV industry.  

Prism Solar maintains exclusive licenses for the main patents for HPC technologies and manufacturing, as well as provisional patents and a host of manufacturing trade secrets to protect these technologies.

The opportunity exists to combine HPC technology with all types of photovoltaic cells for improved solar module efficiency. This means that Prism is able to count virtually all current solar panel production as our market share, rather than our competition.

Prism Solar is acting on a rapid market-entry strategy to exploit the current, tremendously high demand and growth in photovoltaics.  Key marketing and technology partnerships and agreements are in place to support our growth and to secure sustainable long-term market access.

With first-to-market position, leadership in commercializing solar photovoltaic technology and pro forma orders representing over 1 GW of capacity, Prism is well positioned for stability and growth despite the general economic downturn.
