50-75% Less Silicon
Prism Solar’s HPC Film replaces 50-75% of the expensive PV material in a solar panel design, creating modules that can generate the same yield at much lower manufacturing costs.
An HPC module is immediately recognizable by its alternating rows of PV material and HPC Film. The module shown here can generate as much energy as an equivalent sized conventional module of nearly solid silicon.
HPC Film increases the watts generated per gram of silicon by up to 300%. Combined with other improvements, this can lower the cost of a solar installation to below $1.00/Watt.
Not only is HPC Film far less expensive than silicon, it also represents only 1% of the embodied energy of the silicon replaces, creating a far more eco-friendly solar module.
Prism Solar's HPC film is an industry-changing innovation, one that can truly put solar energy in direct competition with fossil fuels.
